Yongwei Sheng
Dr. Yongwei Sheng was our lab’s first postdoctoral scholar, and is now Professor of Geography at UCLA. He is a leading expert in Geospatial Information Systems and Technologies (GIST) with research interests in remote sensing, photogrammetry, and geographic information systems (GIS), and their scientific applications for large-area environmental monitoring and assessment. His research interests include geographic information acquisition, uncertainty in geographic information, and 3-D information technologies for GIScience. He is involved in many research projects that use GIST as a tool to address scientific and environmental issues, including the NASA Surface Water and Ocean Topography (SWOT) satellite mission and monitoring lake dynamics across the Tibetan Plateau and circumpolar Arctic.
