Vida Steiro

Vida is an undergraduate student in the Department of Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences (DEEPS) at Brown. For her honors thesis research she studies shorefast sea ice changes and subsequent changes in the cost of traveling between communities in Uummannaq Fjord, Greenland using remote sensing and GIS. She spent the past summer researching shorefast sea ice through the Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award (UTRA) at Brown and attended a permafrost field course at The University Centre in Svalbard (UNIS). After receiving her ScB in Geology-Biology in May 2020, Vida hopes to continue using remote sensing when pursuing graduate school and in her professional career.
