Scott Stephenson is a Physical Scientist at the RAND Corporation. His research utilizes geospatial modeling and analysis to investigate linked human and natural systems. Much of his work explores future shipping scenarios for the Arctic with a focus on trade, climate feedbacks, and geopolitics. Since 2016, he has been an observer delegate for the American Association of Geographers at the UNFCCC COP. He serves as an Associate Editor of the journal Polar Geography and on the editorial board of FOCUS on Geography. He received his PhD in Geography from UCLA in 2014 and was an Assistant Professor of Geography at the University of Connecticut from 2014-2019.
